Still, 2022-23

Still is a four part series of black and white photo-based works and drawings created during and just post pandemic.This cycle of work forms a narrative of time passing during a time of confinement and then release.

Still, Series 1 is a series of eleven black and white photo-based works each 15 x 11.25 inches. The subject of these works is the flora of my immediate surroundings. Staged in an artificial landscape, overripe and fragile botanicals are supported and held firm by laboratory apparatus.

Still, Series 2 is composed of nine black and white acrylic drawings depicting botanicals confined by grids and cages. Each is 15 x 11 inches. Link here.

Still, Series 3 is a suite of twelve 15 x 11 inch acrylic and charcoal drawings in grisaille. Each depicts an intimate tableaux of contemplation in which the human body is overwritten with asemic text  and errant pieces of flora and natural debris. Link here.

Still, Series 4 is composed of six 22 x 15 inch acrylic drawings in grisaille. They depict flora spreading out unfettered and released beyond their borders. Link here.
